(Penn State) Activated subclass of nerve cells producing GABA neurotransmitter have been discovered to have antidepressant effects similar to pharmaceutical antidepressants in depressed mice, giving new hope that GABA-enhancing drugs could be rapidly acting and more effective antidepressants.
