(Simon Fraser University) A study led by Simon Fraser University biologist Gerhard Gries found that the photoreceptors in blow fly eyes do more than help them navigate the environment. They're also used in an elaborate sexual communication system, aiding their quest to find the perfect mate by filtering out incompatible candidates.
