Less anesthesia during surgery doesn't prevent post-op delirium

(Washington University School of Medicine) One in four older adults experiences delirium after surgery. Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis attempted to change that by closely monitoring brain activity during surgery, but they have found that such monitoring, and minimizing anesthesia if needed, has no significant effect on the occurrence of delirium after surgery.
