Phone checklist can help detect changes in clinical status among home care recipients

(Harvard Medical School) Millions of elderly Americans with physical or cognitive impairments receive nonmedical home-care services and are often hospitalized for potentially avoidable complications. A phone-based checklist can help detect telltale changes in health status among people receiving care at home, according to findings of a pilot study led by researchers at Harvard Medical School. Real-time monitoring systems that help spot problems may head off complications before they escalate.
