Diabetes-related mortality in Germany higher than expected

(Deutsches Zentrum fuer Diabetesforschung DZD) In Germany, nationwide data on mortality attributable to diagnosed diabetes are not available. Researchers at the German Diabetes Center (DDZ) in Düsseldorf have now calculated that a total of around 175,000 deaths were associated with diabetes in 2010. The result of the analysis shows that far more people in Germany die from diabetes and its complications than is stated in the official statistics on cause of death.
