(Maharishi University of Management) A study of 87 subjects found that Transcendental Meditation consistently activates the brain's default mode network, indicating that this approach to meditation doesn't entail concentration or focus. It also found that the frequency of transcending was similar whether the subjects had been practicing this meditation one month or five years. Together these findings support the claim that Transcendental Meditation is natural and effortless, with cortical activation patterns that distinguish it from other approaches.
