Solving the riddle of putrid camel pee could aid millions affected by sleeping sickness

(Trinity College Dublin) Trypanosome parasites that cause sleeping sickness break down amino acids to produce a metabolic by-product that suppresses the immune response. This by-product, which makes the urine of infected camels smell terrible, is a good candidate for anti-trypanosome drugs and therapies.
