Early Trump support climbed in areas with recent Latino population growth

(University of California - Riverside) According to three political scientists from the University of California, Riverside, Donald Trump's promise to build a 'great wall' spanning the border separating the United States and Mexico, as well as subsequent remarks describing Mexican immigrants as 'criminals' and 'rapists,' had a galvanizing effect on his voter base in the initial stages of his campaign, particularly in areas of the country that had experienced considerable Latino population growth in recent years.
