(University of Pennsylvania) The Restoring Active Memory program, led by Michael Kahana and Daniel Rizzuto at the University of Pennsylvania, is one step closer to its goal of creating a fully implantable neural monitoring and stimulation system. The team, which includes researcher Youssef Ezzyat, has shown that precisely timed electrical stimulation to the left side of the brain can reliably and significantly enhance learning and memory performance by as much as 15 percent.
