(Florida Atlantic University) A study led by researchers from Florida Atlantic University has found that differences in the production of the neuropeptide Hypocretin, previously implicated in human narcolepsy, may explain variation in sleep between animal species, or even between individual people. It may also provide important insight into the evolution of sleep and how we might build a brain that does not need to sleep.
