Making sense of the Arab Spring

(University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) The Arab Spring brought down dictators, but true revolution never came or has been thwarted since. University of Illinois Middle East expert Asef Bayat, in a new book, says true revolution was actually never thought out or planned for - at least not the 20th-century kind. "Revolution without Revolutionaries: Making Sense of the Arab Spring" focuses not only on the events of 2011 and after, but also on the nature of revolution itself.
