Enzyme LSD1 found to regulate muscle fiber type differentiation

(Kumamoto University) Japanese researchers have clarified the mechanism by which the LSD1 enzyme regulates genes to determine how myoblasts differentiate into different types of muscle fibers and control their metabolic strategies. By clarifying the actions of specific enzymes and hormones, new methods for managing skeletal muscle formation, health maintenance, and changes due to aging are expected.
