New look at sensory 'clues' wins 2016 AAAS Newcomb Cleveland Prize

(American Association for the Advancement of Science) How does the brain register a sensory clue, such as the sound of footsteps approaching in a dark alley, and signal us to take necessary action? After all, it is our ability to make such decisions -- to rapidly avoid trouble or to secure a reward -- that ensures our survival.
